Jewelry Care
We want things to last at Maiè. Keep your jewelry shining by taking care of the items. Below we've collected some tips so your jewelry continues to shine many years to come
14k Gold-Filled Jewelry
Gold-filled jewelry is made by bonding a layer of solid 14K gold to a base metal. Unlike gold-plated jewelry, it contains a measurable amount of gold and is designed to resist tarnishing, peeling, and discoloration.
With proper care, gold-filled jewelry can last for years. Clean regularly with mild dish soap and water to keep it sparkling. Avoid prolonged contact with lotions, oils, perfumes, and ocean or pool water, as these can dull the finish.
Gold-filled jewelry is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, but may not be suitable for those with brass sensitivities.
Sterling Silver Jewelry
Over time, exposure to air, moisture, and chemicals can cause sterling silver to develop a dark tarnish. Sweat, makeup, perfume, lotions, and chlorine can speed up this process.
Tarnish does not mean your jewelry is damaged. Simply clean it regularly with a silver jewelry cleaner and a soft cloth, then rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly.
Cleaning and Storage
Your jewelry is exposed to dirt, sweat, and everyday pollutants, so we recommend gently cleaning each piece after wearing it. Use a soft, damp cloth or polishing cloth to remove any dirt and keep your jewelry looking its best. This should also be applied to our permanent jewelry, simple clean and dry the jewelry while you are wearing it.
Proper storage also helps prevent oxidation and keeps your jewelry looking beautiful for longer. After cleaning, store each piece separately in its own box. Every piece of Maié jewelry comes in a practical and stylish box designed to help protect your jewelry.
